   The StuG IV (Sd.Kfz. 167) with it's 7,5 cm StuK 40 L/48 was a German assault gun and effective tank hunter which apeared on the eastern front in November 1943. Alkett, the manufacturer of the StuG III, suffered damage due to an Allied bombing raid so they've used PzKpfw IV instead of PzKpfw III chassis. The StuG IV was in production till the end of WWII and underwent a lot of upgrades, some at the field maintenance units. This late version got rails for mounting Thoma side skirts ... sorry to say that there is no picture of some evidence, but in that late stage of the war there was not much with taken pictures ...
